The Governor-General has the constitutional authority to dissolve the House of Representatives. By convention, this is done on the advice of the Prime Minister. This campaign asks the Governor-General to consider the public call for an early election. Read the Parliament of Australia’s explanation of dissolution .
The Governor-General’s Office says it does not typically respond to form emails sent as part of a broader campaign, and that these campaign messages will not be brought to the Governor-General’s attention. Sending a message lets you express your view, but it does not guarantee that the Governor-General will personally read it or act on it. You may wish to personalise your message so it explains your own reasons for supporting an early election.
